The Edward River was the location for the Hookers’ first official comp of 2009.
Over 30 anglers assembled at the first reserve up stream from the Pub on March Saturday 7th.
The chosen site was perfect for a “chill out from the world with your mates”. Heaps of shade, good water levels, and easy to get the boat in.
Early results indicated fishing was just going to be great mate. Lots of fish, yellows and cod, were caught but all just under size. Unfortunately this trend continued for the whole of the weekend until……..
…..after the comp closed. Then some real fish were caught. They call it fishing!.
Despite the absence of keepable fish everyone did have an enjoyable two days. The weather was perfect, lots of kids, big & little, & family pets enjoying the river.
Saturday Lunch, a plain good old fashioned Aussie Barby. (Lucky Ken remembered the salad) Everyone was back at it Sunday morning until 11 o’clock when Murray Cod Hatcheries delivered 11000 native fingerlings for release.
Then everyone had a job. For a full report on Kyalites’ Annual Fish Release go to Restocking Raffle The Fish release was followed by lunch at the Hotel and the Clubs’ AGM.
